Biomedical Sciences is a broad field of applied biology that is directed toward understanding health and disease. The program's mission is to educate students who will create a healthier future for humans and animals through the medical professions, biomedical innovation and discovery, global service and outreach.

The Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M is the largest construction education program in the nation. Its programs are the premiere versions of applied construction degrees that integrates principles of architecture, technology, engineering, business and project management. Students learn about building systems, materials and methods of construction, scheduling, cost estimating, construction management, construction law and business/labor relations.

The Education program is a new addition to the Higher Education Center at McAllen. Students can receive a Bachelor of Science in Education with a teacher certification in Middle Grades 4-8 Math/Science. A series of field-based programs and classroom work prepare students to make a difference in their classrooms and communities.

The Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development (HRD), a new program at the Higher Education Center at McAllen, is designed for students who have an interest in Human Resource Development in both the private sector and public sector. The degree is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to succeed in a variety of roles in human resource development for business, industry and education.

Earning a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering allows students to develop unique skill sets and the ability to specialize in areas that may not be provided in a traditional department degree program.

This new program at the Higher Education Center at McAllen brings the specialized yet widely applicable degree to the Rio Grande Valley. Students learn the ins and outs of maritime business administration from industry experts and longtime veterans. Whether a student is more interested in the running of ports, working in a shipping company or getting into accounting or logistics, this degree is perfect for driven individuals that want to land a great job.

The Multidisciplinary Engineering Technology program emphasizes mechatronics, a field that includes a combination of mechanical, electrical, communications, control and computer systems.

The Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is coming to McAllen in spring 2026, the program is dedicated to educating and producing nurses prepared to lead within the profession while advancing nursing research and increasing outreach initiatives to positively impact the health care landscape.

The Public Health program is based on a philosophy of health promotion and disease prevention, to improve the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities. Graduates will be able to assess factors influencing health in populations as well as plan, design, implement, and successfully manage effective health care programs and interventions.
