With more than 10 years of experience in career readiness, talent development, and job placement, Erica Mendez is a seasoned professional in the field. Holding a degree in Rehabilitation and Counseling from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, she developed an interest in Vocational Rehabilitation. Erica is also a certified Work Experience Trainer, Work Readiness Coach, and Job Placement Specialist, credentialed by the University of North Texas.
Her career includes significant roles with the State of Texas as an Employment Counselor and Work Experience Trainer. She has also supported workforce development efforts at community institutions including UTRGV, South Texas College, and South Texas Vocational Technical Institute. Through these roles, Erica has built strong regional partnerships, connecting students with real-world career opportunities.
As an advocate for the RGV, she is committed to regional workforce growth and believes career development should be an engaging and rewarding experience.
Outside of work, Erica enjoys spending time with her husband and children outdoors, singing loudly (even if off-key), and currently working on a guidebook to help job seekers maintain balance and humor throughout the often stressful employment process.
