Dr. Brittany Leckey is the Program Chair for the College of Arts and Sciences and Instructional Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen. In this dual role, she advocates for Arts and Sciences faculty, coordinates academic initiatives, and teaches lower-division philosophy courses that cultivate critical inquiry and ethical reflection—ensuring students enjoy an exceptional Aggie experience.
A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Leckey spent the past seven years at South Texas College, where she rose to Chair of the Philosophy Department while spearheading innovative cross-disciplinary programs that united the humanities, arts, and social sciences. Her leadership there emphasized student-centered pedagogy, faculty collaboration, and community engagement.
Dr. Leckey’s scholarly interests lie at the intersection of ethics and aesthetics, particularly the transformative possibilities that arise when philosophy meets film. She earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy (2017) and M.A. in English (2015) from Texas A&M University, an M.A. in Philosophy from Duquesne University (2011), and a B.A. in Philosophy from Drury University (2006).
In her spare time, Dr. Leckey is an avid film watcher—especially horror and sci fi—an enthusiastic reader, gamer, and NYT Connections player. She enjoys sharing these passions with her family and friends.
